After getting a lot of suggestions, I finally went to Chungdam, the Korean restaurant in Accra’s Afrikiko. The experience turned out to be very unique.
Without a doubt, the tteokbokki was my favorite dish. I had never had this famous Korean dish before, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. But I was hooked after just one bite. The rice cakes were just the right amount of chewy, the sauce was both spicy and tasty, and everything worked well together. I think that spending GHS 210 is a smart move.
After that, I ordered the seafood ramen, which cost GHS 160 for the ramen base and GHS 60 for the seafood toppings. The broth was fine, but it somehow tasted like Indomie. But the fish made up for it a lot. It was fresh, well-seasoned, and very big. They gave a lot of seafood.
I really liked the free sides. I got dumplings that were a little burned, along with traditional Korean side dishes like kimchi, bok choy, bean sprouts, and more. It made the whole dinner feel more real.
Final Score and Decision
In short, I give Chungdam a 6.5 out of 10. The food was good, the portions were big, and there were extra side dishes, which made the visit enjoyable even though it wasn’t perfect. I would definitely go back, especially for the tteokbokki.
